Jr. Beta is the junior division of the National Beta Club, a non-profit educational youth organization. It promotes academic achievement, character, leadership, and service among students in grades 6–8. Members participate in a variety of activities, including meaningful community service projects.
To be newly inducted in January, students must earn an academic average of 90 or above for two consecutive 9-week grading periods.
The average is calculated from core classes only (Math, English/Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science).
Students must maintain an academic average of 90 or above in core classes.
If a student’s average falls below 90, he or she will be placed on probation and notified at the end of the grading period.
If the average returns to 90 or above by the end of the next grading period, membership continues.
If the average remains below 90, membership is terminated.
Students with ISS, OSS, or alternative school placements are not eligible for Jr. Beta.
Members who receive in-school suspension (ISS) will be placed on probation for one semester and may not participate in Jr. Beta activities or trips during that time.
Out-of-school suspensions (OSS) or disciplinary expulsions result in immediate termination of membership.
